Mississauga Crane Operator Classes - Crane operator training is for supervisors and operators of overhead lifting machinery. The course is suitable for both current and new operators. Course content addresses relevant federal, provincial and state safety regulations. The first component of training involves comprehensive in-class instruction and test. Following that is a hands-on customized session along with practical instruction and evaluation.
The content of the course applies to all categories and types of overhead lifting crane equipment. The instruction will specifically focus on all aspects of crane operation that could be carried out at the trainee's workplace. Upon finishing the course, people training will know how to operate specific overhead lifting equipment, related parts and attachments efficiently and safely.
The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits which an operator could develop while operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to equipment and products can be prevented with proper practices. Training reduces the likelihood of a workplace incident or injury taking place.
The course will encompass roughly eight hours of classroom instruction with a couple of hours of on-site, hands-on, customized training. Participants are graded on their knowledge of training material through written testing and an assessment of their practical knowledge. The minimum acceptable score is 80%.
In the in-class session, participants would be taught applicable legislation and guidelines, causes of damages and occurrences, internal responsibility, hazard awareness, basic equipment and design principles, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, safe hosting/operating methods, pre-shift equipment inspections, equipment applications/rigging, kinds of hardware, angles and hitches, operator/pedestrian safety, turning/flipping loads safely, hand signals for slingers and operators.
The customized practical training and evaluation session must be pre-scheduled. It will be held at the trainees' facility following completion of the in-class session. The duration of this practical training component is an hour or two. Two operators at a time will be trained by the instructor on skills like safe operation, planning the lift and correct rigging practices.
Upon finishing the practical operating instruction and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee will write an exam. Signed safety rules will be needed from every participant. Successful trainees will be provided with individual wallet certificates. The company will be given a framed wall certificate.
